Chart by Chancay HOY using COSCO SHIPPING Ports figures. July–September comparison for 2025 and 2026, not full-year throughput.
Chancay Port handled 139,669 TEU in the third quarter of 2026, up 24.9% from a year earlier, according to COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ operational results released on 29 October. The figure covers July–September rather than the terminal’s full-year volume.
An additional 27,807 TEU compared with Q3 2025
The comparable figure was 111,862 TEU. Subtracting that volume from the latest total gives an increase of 27,807 TEU, calculated by Chancay HOY. A TEU represents the capacity of a 20-foot container; it is not necessarily one physical container.
Three mainline services and five feeder services
COSCO links the terminal’s performance to its expanded shipping connections. Its report describes three mainline services and five feeder services. Feeders connect ports with mainline networks, so eight services should not be read as eight direct routes to Asia.
Chancay is also among the terminals where the company plans to strengthen operations and attract additional routes and vessel calls. The release gives no specific timetable for new Chancay connections.
What local businesses should check
For businesses in Chancay and Huaral, the figures provide context rather than proof of new contracts. Importers and shippers should confirm destinations, sailing frequency, available capacity and a complete quotation including inland transport.
Container throughput does not measure local hiring or retail sales. The increase alone cannot establish how many jobs were created or whether individual businesses earned more.
Reading the figures correctly
The result is Chancay’s total terminal throughput, not COSCO’s worldwide volume or an ownership-adjusted figure. A single quarter is also insufficient to establish the port’s full-year result.
